THE WIND
Trade winds blow consistently cross on shore at varying times of year. There are two prime seasons for the wind. The Kaskazi from the North East swings over during November till April. November’s “short rains” often cause little wind and very hot muggy temperatures, but in mid/late December the winds pick up, lessen the humidity, and temperatures are at their best from 30 C to 35 C. The Ocean is at its most beautiful during this season.
The Kusi from the South East howls in from late April till late October during and after the “long rains” season of May / June. Air temperatures are from a cool 25 C to 30C. The winds and seas can often become quite strong and rough during squalls, so some watersports may be postponed from hour to hour with your safety in mind, but equally you will get magical days of blue skies, lots of wind, and full blue seas. |
