Welcome to Turkey's leading kiteboard school and centre. We have two full-service kitesurf centres on the Cesme Peninsular, which is one of the best wind sport destinations in the Mediterranean, thanks to the reliable summer wind, beautiful weather and unspoilt local scenery.
The protected waters of Alacati bay, which host the PWA Windsurf World Cup every August, are the perfect place for all levels of kitesurfer, from beginners to experts. Our second kite centre in nearby Urla has a gently sloping sandy bottom and direct on-shore winds - ideal for beginners taking classes, intermediate riders perfecting their skills or experienced kiteboarders having fun. There's a cafe, a fantastic restaurant and chill-out area for before and after sessions or classes, with showers and changing facilities.
We offer private and group kiteboard lessons for all levels from beginners to expert clinics and master classes. The warm, shallow water extends for up to 200m from the shore making it ideal for learning and improving your skills. Our experienced and friendly instructors are fully certified by I.K.O. and speak English and German. We also run IKO Instructor Training Courses every year.
We are the Turkish distributor for North Kiteboarding, so we only use the latest North kites and boards for our classes and rentals. We also provide equipment storage and a repair service for kites, boards and sails.
The Cesme Peninsular is a natural playground for kiteboarders and windsurfers thanks to the meltem, a seasonal climatic system that creates great wind throughout the summer, from May-October. The meltem wind is strong and stable funneled and accelerated by the surrounding hills - great for kiteboarders and windsurfers! It's reliable too, with over 25 windy days a month during the summer. In summer, the meltem wind starts like clockwork at 10-11 am, strengthening during the afternoon to 4-5 Beaufort, before dying out at sunset. But it is not uncommon for the wind to get up to 5-7 Beaufort, and continue blowing day and night for a week or more. Small kite days!
Alacati is a charming town located on the Cesme peninsular on Turkey's beautiful Aegean coast. Overlooked by a row of stone windmills, the town's cobbled streets are lined with stone houses, shops and tavernas, and dotted with friendly guesthouses and boutique hotels. The shops sell local crafts, jewellery and antiques; while the village square is filled with market stalls and open-air cafes. There are many interesting sights and great beaches on the Cesme peninsular and plenty of other things to do, such as diving, sailing or visiting one of the local hot-springs. After dark, there are nightspots to suit all tastes, from friendly tavernas to slick cocktail bars, with a selection of nightclubs and beach bars open until dawn nearby.
There is a wide choice of accommodation in the area - everything from luxury boutique hotels and beach resorts to small family-run guest-houses with rooms from £20 per person. We also have a school apartment with self-catering rooms, for those on a tight budget. Contact us for special rates and booking. We are located in the town of Alacati on the Cesme Peninsular, 80 km (50 miles) west of the city of Izmir, which has a large international airport.
Izmir (Adnan Menderes) Airport is served by regular scheduled flights from the UK and Europe. British Airways, Lufthansa and Cyprus Turkish Airlines are among the airlines with direct scheduled flights. During the summer season (April-October) there are charter flights to Izmir, for example with Thomas Cook fly from several UK regional airports. There are many more flight options from the UK and Europe to Istanbul. Domestic flights from Istanbul to Izmir (50 mins) are cheap and very regular (almost hourly). Low-cost operators to Istanbul from the UK include Easyjet and Pegasus. Scheduled include Turkish Airlines and BA.
There is an excellent highway between Izmir and Alacati (80 km). From the airport take the right fork to Izmir. Follow this road for about 12 km. You will pass through many intersections and traffic lights - just keep following the road straight. After 12 km, there is a slip-road on the right sign-posted for "Cesme". Join the highway and follow the signs for "Cesme". You will need to take a ticket at the toll booth leaving Izmir. After 70 km exit the highway at the signs for Alacati. You will need to pay the highway toll - 1.75 TL (about £0.60p). We will provide you with a local map to guide you to your accommodation.
