Making the most of your No Fly Time

A 2 day jeep safari that combines a visit to St Catherine Monastery with Wadi Arada & Ein Khudra oasis. This is a great introduction to the desert, as it combines key sites with a quiet night in the Bedouin tent.

St Catherine is the oldest monastery in Christendom, presently cared for by a small group of Greek Orthodox monks. After visiting this historic and moving place, we stay overnight with a Bedouin family to trek through the Double Canyon - a winding canyon system eroded by 4000 years of rain from pale, dry sandstone.

Example Itinerary:

Day 1:
Depart Dahab 8am. Drive to St Catherine's Monastery.
Wadi Arada, stopping for 1/2 hour at the Nabateaan inscriptions on the way.
Hike down Wadi to the Double White Canyon at the bottom of the valley to have lunch and explore.
Drive to Gabr el Barqa el Makhrum to set up camp. Bedouin dinner under the stars.

Day 2:
Breakfast around 8am. Drive through Green Valley to Nawamis. Have Bedouin tea.
Drive to White Canyon. Hike down the canyon to the end of the valley, arriving at Ein Khudra Oasis. Lunch and exploration of oasis.
Drive through Wadi Ghazala to Ein Furtaga Oasis.
Drive to small dune sand beach area of Nuweiba to have Bedouin tea.
Back to Dahab, arriving at around 7pm.
