Alacati (pronounced Alachati) is no exception, just an hour from Izmir airport in an old wine growing area. It is popular with local windsurfers as well, with the Turkish champion having his base here. The combination of consistent winds and a very safe, nearly 500-m- long and 400-m-wide shallow section with completely flat water makes Alaçati an extremely attractive destination for beginners. Your learning curve is guaranteed to be steep here, and prices for accommodation and meals are more than reasonable.

Itinerary

THE WIND
The wind in Alacati is an accelerated meltemi that is funnelled through the hills. A local thermal effect caused by the dry hills heating up increases the strength. It has wind the whole year, with the strongest and most reliable in summer.

THE WINDSURFING
Alacati is blessed with a shallow area that extends to 500m from the beach. Combined with flat water, this makes it the perfect place to improve technique and for slalom blasting. It also means that it is suitable for a whole range of abilities at the same time. It is an ideal place to learn to waterstart. The other side of the bay is 1.5km away and has several small beaches. The wind can often blow for a large part of the day with the strongest in the afternoon.

Accommodation Details

HOTEL SUZER SUN DREAMS (HALF BOARD)
The Suzer Hotel is a good standard hotel which has been fully renovated for the 2008 season. It is very conveniently located just 300m from the windsurf centre. All rooms are air conditioned with a balcony, fridge, phone and TV.
As well as a large pool, the hotel has an outdoor jacuzzi, tennis court, children's playground and private beach. The health centre on the ground floor features thermal spas, hot pools, Turkish baths, sauna, more.

HOTEL ILERI
The Ileri Hotel is located in Ilica, 50 m from the beach. There is a shuttle bus to the windsurf centre (approx. 7 km). The central location on the busy beach road from Ilica means that a certain amount of traffic noise is unavoidable in the high season.
The Ileri Hotel can be compared with a good, small guesthouse. It is very clean and well-kept and the breakfast buffet is good and ample. The rooms are small but cosy and equipped with a telephone, bath or shower and WC.

SHERATON HOTEL (HALF BOARD)
The Sheraton Cesme Hotel, Resort and Spa is a luxurious new beachfront resort on the Ilica coast of the Aegean Sea, nearby the picturesque resort town of Cesme and 85 kilometres west of Izmir.
Hotel facilities include babysitting service, tennis courts, extensive fitness and spa services. The hotel rooms are air-conditioned with balcony, cribs if required, satellite channels, en-suite facilities and 24-hour room service.

WINDSURFERS PENSION
The guesthouse is located on a hill above the bay of Alacati with astonishing view. The harbour is nearby. The guesthouse is about 300m before One Resort Ephesus. You can easily walk from the guesthouse to Club Mistral in 5 minutes.
A cosy small guesthouse with seven rooms and it is made for surfers where you can chill out with the latest surf videos and cool drinks. At some evenings there is also music and party so it can be a little noisy.

ALACATI BEACH RESORT
This newly opened luxury accommodation provides a new standard in Alacati idel for thosing looking for a high stdard of beach front accommodation close to Club Mistral Windsruf / kitesurf centre.
Each building has up to 18 rooms surrounded by botanic garden with cobble stone paved walkways. The guest-rooms have small terraces and French balconies and / or “cumbha”s (bay windows) on the opper floors.
