Safaga is located about 50 kilometres south of Hurghada (airport) right on the Red Sea. When you travel down the coastal road, you will find yourself in the middle of a desert landscape. Safaga itself is a typical small Egyptian township. Several hotels lie outside the town centre on the beautiful natural seashore.

Spacious sandy beaches extend around the deep-sea port of Safaga, and one of our largest and best equipped Club Mistral centres is located right on one of the most beautiful and widest of them.

THE WINDSURFING - CLUB MISTRAL
There is no doubt about the fact that our Club Mistral centre offers by far the best windsurfing spot in Safaga, on the wide, extremely beautiful beach of the Shams Hotel. This part of the beach is on a spit and is completely exposed to the wind. In the morning, the wind blows cross-offshore from the left and changes to sideshore towards the afternoon. These wind conditions in the morning facilitate trips to Tobias Island, which is about 3.5 km away.
Directly in front of the Club Mistral centre, you can touch bottom and the water is perfectly flat. Further out, you will find chop-hop conditions. You will find plenty of variety in Safaga & from the wonderful slalom and freeride area to the swell. Here, you can either race or jump.

THE WIND
As with most of the resort we feature in Egypt, the wind is very reliable year around, but is at its best in the summer months between May an September.
That said, Safaga is also an excellent winter destination, as the climate is not as fiercely hot, but the wind still blows a steady bft 4-5 most of the time.

Accommodation Details

IMPERIAL HOTEL
This newly built 5 star property is located directly on the beach of Safaga with the Skyriders kitesurf school right in front of the hotel on the endless sandy beach. The Club Mistral Windsurf center is about 500m down the beach. The U-shaped building includes 322 rooms, 3 restaurants (2 á-la-carte), coffee shop, internet café and discotheque. The hotel surrounds the hotel 2 swimming pools (one heated), sun terrace, pool- and beach bar. Sun chairs at the pool and beach are included. Full spa with massage, sauna (subject to fee), jacuzzi and fitness room, Tennis, squash, volleyball and table tennis. For children there is a Kids Club (from 3 years) free of charge, childrens pool, playroom and playground entertainment. No babysitting service.
The hotel has standard rooms and superior and duplex rooms. All rooms have sea view (full or partly). The standard rooms are modern and comfortably furnished and have bath, AC, mini fridge, satellite TV, Safe box, balcony, internet access (fee) and phone. The duplex superior rooms are about 40m² in size; the ground floor consists of the main bathroom, living room, a small kitchenette (not for cooking), balcony and the second floor has the bedroom and a small bathroom. The seafront superior rooms are about 30m² in size and have extra large balconies with dense plantation, full panoramic view of the bay and sea and also incl. the comfort package (VIP check-in, VIP lounge access, tea and coffee available in rooms, lunch à-la-carte, unlimited free access to spa area and complimentary internet use for 30min/day).

SHAMS
The resort exists of a hotel with 184 rooms and 136 bungalows, set within a wonderful garden. All rooms and bungalows are equipped with airconditioning, international telephone, satellite TV, minifridge, terras or balcony or panorama view, and a bathroom. For handicapped guests we have specially equipped rooms. Behind the hotel you'll find a wonderful garden with a pool surrounded by a waterfall and rocks. Bathing towels, sunbeds and parasols are freely available on the beach and around the pool. Two children's playgrounds and one playroom (without supervision). Snackbar on the beach.
The hotel offers good sports and leisure activities (as well as the Club Mistral center right in front of the hotel) including volleyball, a gym, tennis, squash, table tennis, mini-golf, billiards, a sauna and massage. All Inklusive breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered as open buffet. In the afternoon coffee and snacks. Softdrinks and national alcoholic drinks from 11.00 a.m. to 23.00 p.m. (after 23.00 not free anymore).
